The Sound Symphony Orchestra will hold its annual solo competition on:

Saturday, 5/13/17: North Shore Public Library, 250 Route 25A, Shoreham, NY 11786
The competition is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists. Contestants must be under the age of 19 as of January 1, 2018. Previous winners are not eligible to audition within 3 years of winning the competition.
Suitable repertoire includes any solo piece with orchestral accompaniment. All works must be memorized and prepared to be performed in their entirety at the audition.
Contestants will be judged on overall performance, style, and suitability of performance with orchestral accompaniment. All contestants will be auditioned privately. Accompanists are mandatory and the responsibility of the contestants. A second keyboard will be available for those accompanying pianists.
The judges reserve the right to select more than one winner or to select no winner. The decisions of the judges are final.
The winner(s) will perform as a featured soloist with the Sound Symphony at one of the orchestra's 2017-2018 season concerts.
Applications must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2017, and must include a non-refundable $50.00 application fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to:

Please include your biography along with the application. Judges will not be privy to the biographies until after the winner(s) is/are selected.
Receipt of the completed application will be acknowledged by the competition committee via email. Audition times will be specified in the email.
